Torch Browser is a Chromium-based browser with enhanced functionality for the users that use the Internet mainly for finding and downloading multimedia files. It is designed to make your browsing experience smooth and to avoid using multiple programs for the regular tasks.
The main window of the application provides you with a familiar browsing interface and allows you to quickly access the enhanced features from the address bar buttons. Some of the functions such as the media content downloader are only enabled on the pages that contain relevant content.
You can use the Share button to quickly access your Facebook or Twitter account and post a message about the current page. This tool allows you to share your favorite pages and media files without leaving the current page or using an extension.
The included media grabber allows you to retrieve audio and video files from a large number of websites by simply clicking one button. This can help you save time and avoid installing third party tools.
While most of the websites use the FLV format to stream movies to your browser, not all media players recognize the format and you might require a converter to play the files locally. However, the Torch FLV player included in the package can handle both FLV and MP4 in order to quickly watch the movies.
Another distinctive feature is the built-in torrent client that is able to open a torrent file, load the tracker information and save the files to your computer. The interface might seem familiar to some users and provides useful information about the files included in the torrent, peers, and download speed.
You can specify the files that you want to download when opening a torrent file, but this option is not available once the torrent is in queue. However, you can change the priority of each torrent and set the maximum speed for some of the active downloads.
